Summer STEAM Program

Summer STEAM Program

For students in grades 3 through 6, this includes students entering the 7th grade.

Robotics has proven to be a fun, engaging, hands-on, and minds-on activity for students of all levels. Last summer, several groups of Cub Scouts explored the world of robotics, working in teams to build, program and drive VexIQ robots to perform a variety of student inspired tasks. This summer the robotics learning program is being offered during 4 sessions and is open to all elementary grade students in Manchester and the surrounding area. The Trinity program is directed by two mentors with over 30 years of robotics experience with the award winning Trinity HS Robotics Team. Overall, the students will apply science, math, engineering, arts, and technology (STEAM) skills to an authentic experience, as well as develop problem solving skills. On the final day of the camp, parents will be invited to see a competition between the teams.

Our Learning Goals Include:

  • Inspire self-confidence and innovation
  • Leadership
  • Hands-on “fun work” for kids
  • Problem solving skills
  • Learn to work in a team

owlSession 1: June 26 -30  3D Printing and Game Design

Students will learn how to design 3D objects and print them on a 3D printer. Each student will be able to create their own 3D object and print it! Students will also work in teams to invent their own board game.

Students will explore robotic programming with sensors using the VEX IQ robotics design system. They will have to build and program a robot to navigate an obstacle
course using only the sensors on their robot.
